Monthly Food Box

Food Items

Each monthly food box is assembled based on the number of people living in the household, with input by clients as to the tastes and needs of the household (e.g., vegetarian household or low-sodium foods desired). It contains items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as other meals. Depending on availability and season, clients may also choose from fresh fruits and vegetables.

In October 2006, the NSC added the "Take Three" Program to the monthly food box in order to provide clients with more food and more choice. As part of "Take Three," clients may choose three items-- in any combination --from a list of food categories created by the staff.

USDA Program

The Center also serves as a distribution point for free food from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which provides a pre-determined, random assortment of healthy foods that eligible familes can receive once each month. The number and type of items vary frequently. USDA foods are available from both our Northampton and Goshen locations.

Bread & Produce

Bread & Produce
